Sermon Series: Glory Days - Part 3 "Employment Benefits"

Sunday, February 26, 2012
Lou Bury, preaching
All of us who are not retired think about retirement.  We plan for it financially.  We look forward to the day when we can "sleep in," linger over a cup of coffee, pursue our hobbies.  Though we may retire from our earthly work, Christianity is not a faith of retirement.  We should never retire from the Lord's work.  This week:  "Employment Benefits."

Sermon Series: Glory Days - Part 2 "Say What?"

Sunday, February 19, 2012
Lou Bury, preaching
Currently in the United States about 1.5 trillion text messages are sent annually, or about 4.1 billion per day.  Globally, about one in six people, or 1.1 billion, have Facebook accounts.  We live in an age of vast, easy, and cheap communication, where trillions of words are sped across the planet in the blink of an eye.  Yet the world remains desperate to hear the one true Word.  This week, we'll talk about how to reflect God's glory to the world through our words: "Say What?"

Sermon Series: Glory Days - Part 1 "What Was I Thinking?"

Sunday, February 12, 2012
Lou Bury, preaching
In Bruce Springsteen's hit song, "Glory Days," the lyrics of the chorus go like this: "Glory days well they'll pass you by, glory days in the wink of a young girl's eye, glory days, glory days."  His point is that human fame, or glory, is fleeting.  I agree and will take it one step further.  Trying to achieve glory for ourselves is not only a fleeting endeavor, it is misplaced.  It is a fool's errand.  Instead, everything we say, everything we do, and everything we think should in some way seek to glorify the Lord.  We'll talk about how to do that during the next three weeks.  This week: "What Was I Thinking?"
