Sunday, November 27, 2011
Lou Bury, preaching
On the eve of His death, Jesus went to the Garden of Gethsemane to pray to His Father.  In one of the darkest moments in all of human history, Jesus set aside His divinity and displays His humanity.  "My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death."  This week: Jesus in the Garden.

Sermon Series: Let Me Introduce You to a Friend of Mine - Part 8

Sunday, November 20, 2011

Jesus had just spent forty days in the wilderness when Satan confronted Him.  Have you ever wondered why God allowed His only Son to be tempted and directly confronted by the very force of evil itself?  And in such a weakened state?  Or why the Holy Spirit led Jesus into the wilderness specifically "to be tempted by the devil?"  If we are to know Jesus, we must understand His trials.  This week: Jesus in the wilderness.

Let Me Introduce You to a Friend of Mine: Part 7

Sunday, November 13, 2011

Temple life and attendance was an important part of life for Jewish people in Jesus' time.  Jesus, as a Jew, attended temple, and when He does so as a young boy, He first reveals His mission when he says to His anxious mother, "Didn't you know I had to be in my Father's house?"  This declaration of intimacy with the Father was both astounding and unprecedented.  This week: Jesus in Church.

"Do this in remembrance of me."  Have you ever thought about those words?  Jesus was speaking not only to the assembled disciples, but to us as well.  He desires communion with us in all things and at all times.  The act of Communion is for one purpose: to remember Jesus.  This week: Jesus in communion.
